About Susanna Hinton (founder)

I live in Northallerton, North Yorkshire, where I have been a member of New Life Baptist Church for many years, and am currently an Elder. My husband Phil and I head up the prayer ministry team there, and I have the privilege of being a mentor.

Over recent years Phil and I have explored much of the Yorkshire Dales, getting to know the area well: it's where we find our 'head clearing space' and I'd love to share some of that with you. I carry my camera every where I go, and thoroughly enjoy the slower pace that goes with stopping to take photos, as well as the creativity of capturing some of the beauty of my surroundings. I have also learned the value of stepping out of normal routine in order to press pause on all the noise and distractions, in order simply to spend time with God.

I am the mother of two adult children. For many years, I was PA to the Senior Pastor at New Life Baptist Church; and I have been closely involved with the Northern Baptist Association, including some time as a trustee and 2 years working as Renew Wellbeing Facilitator.

About Feet of Faith walks

Retreat walks are an opportunity to take time out from your normal schedule, and to spend time in a beautiful landscape, taking notice of your surroundings; it’s not about how high, fast or far we walk, but about taking our time at a comfortable speed. As we walk, we will be attending to our wellbeing: spiritually as we are aware of God's presence; physically as we exercise; and mentally as we use the five ways to wellbeing (connect, learn, get active, take notice and give). My Christian faith is an essential part of my approach to these walks, but people of no faith who are open to such a faith-based walk are very welcome.

Walks take place on week days (except Wednesdays). I am happy to take bookings for individuals and for groups of up to 3 or 4 people, but do feel free to contact me about bringing larger groups. As part of the booking process, I'll invite you to a Zoom conversation so that we can discuss in detail what you'd like to do, and tailor the walk to you.

Have a look at the walks page to find out more about a walk will look like, what sort of equipment or experience is needed, where to stay and how to book. You might also like to have a look at what people say after they've been on a retreat walk, which is on our reviews page or to visit our example walks page to have a look at what sort of walks are on offer.

About Feet of Faith quiet days

Quiet days offer the chance to escape with a small group (up to 10 people) to a peaceful space to spend time in God’s presence and to attend to our wellbeing. A light lunch and refreshments will be provided in most venues, though you may need to bring your own lunch for some, and generally the days take place on weekdays except Wednesdays. An occasional Saturday may be possible.

There are two kinds of quiet days:

  • we organise occasional quiet days in the Dales which you can book onto individually

  • we run a bespoke quiet day for church or charity small groups, leadership teams or staff teams (up to 10 people) in a venue that works for you.

Visit the quiet days page to find out more about how a quiet day works, where they take place and how to make enquiries.
