What will a quiet day look like?

All the venues are in the beautiful surroundings of the Yorkshire Dales. A typical quiet day runs from 10 am to 4 pm, with refreshments and a light lunch provided in some venues, or you may be required to bring your own lunch for others.

We'll have some gathered time, and some time to be on your own. We will offer you tools to help with your private devotions, through worship, dwelling in some passages of Scripture, prayer, creativity and silence. And there will be opportunity to withdraw, indoors and out, and materials to help you as you pray and spend time alone with God. There will be plenty of space for you to use in the way that works best for you.

Where do quiet days take place?

Feet of Faith quiet days take place in peaceful venues in the Yorkshire Dales, some of which are explicitly retreat spaces, some of which just invite you to take time aside. Currently, we are using the Jonas Centre in Wensleydale, Parcevall Hall in Wharfedale, Thornton Rust Mission Room in Wensleydale and Muker Public Hall in Upper Swaledale. Visit the venues page to find out more about what they offer.

Alternatively, if you're interested in a bespoke day for a church, charity or small group nearer to where you are based, we can come and run a quiet day in your church building, or in a local venue provided by you.

What will a quiet day cost?

There is a variety of prices which reflect the costs of venue hire. A day in one of the venues listed above will be between £20 and £70 per person; however, if you book a bespoke quiet day for your team, using your own venue, food and refreshments, the cost is £60 per day, plus travel expenses.

Here is our current price guide.

What if I don't live near the Yorkshire Dales?

There is plenty of accommodation on offer in the Dales, but if you would enjoy staying in places set up for retreat to prolong your time aside with God, you might like to have a look at one of the following:

  • The Jonas Centre in Wensleydale, with whom Feet of Faith is partnered. A beautiful setting where you are invited to rest, seek and engage with God.

  • Parcevall Hall in Wharfedale, the retreat house of the Anglican Diocese of Leeds; peace and tranquility in a beautiful historic house in gorgeous gardens.

  • Scargill House in Upper Wharfedale: a multinational Christian community which offers a place of relaxation, refreshing and learning.
